Electronic Test

Electronic Data Entry

Data entry for the electronic administration is automatic as the system stores the answers selected by the student. Scores must be manually entered for all writing items (scored 0 or 1). Assessors are expected to use the electronic administration practice tests to determine whether students can access the electronic administration well in advance of the testing window. There may be a very small number of students who begin the electronic administration and the assessor determines that the student will not be successful in the electronic administration format. If the electronic administration is discontinued and the student completes the assessment via paper/pencil, the Assessors manually enter the student responses using the Data Entry tab in the 'Test Students' section (see Module 3 for more information on paper/pencil Data Entry).

Scoring the Writing Items on the ORExt Testing Application

All student writing is recorded by the database and presented to the Assessor for scoring after the electronic administration has been submit and the exit PIN is entered. The required written outcome and scoring directions are presented, along with the student’s actual writing, and the Assessor is asked to score the response as correct or incorrect. If throughout the electronic administration, the writing items are administered paper/pencil, these will also need to be scored prior to final submission of the ELA assessment.
